Week 9: Analogical Thinking

This is the first model of the submarine today. It was named Turtle and made in 1775 for the purpose of war. As its name states, the inspiration perhaps came from a turtle.
This is my painting. I use a lot of objects to combine them together to translate my message. For example: the keys and the hands  and the facial expression to represent the public attitude and acceptance towards the released prisoners. hands and snakes to represent the sin, the guilt which holds back the prisoners.

This is my painting. I use butterfly as a metaphor to represent my love. i feel that love is a beautiful butterfly, it comes and stays only for a while.

In my country,  we used to describe women as lion " she s a lion" or " she is aggressive like a lion" to show character of an aggressive woman.

This is a glider, an early development of aircraft. The inspiration came from bird. For centuries, human had been trying to fly like a bird. This idea only became successful with the Wright brothers, when they made an aircraft to fly successfully.

This is a painting by Rene Magritte, "The collective invention" in 1934. It is a representation of a mermaid by combining a half naked woman body with half the body of a fish. The artist intention is to mock our imagination of a beautiful mermaid, and to show us the real mermaid if it existed.
This painting is "The Empire of Light" (1953) by Rene Magritte. Although it is said not to represent anything, to me it seems to represent loneliness by the light, and the illogical depiction of light and time in the painting.

Week7: Synesthesia

Synesthesia is a condition in which one type of stimulation evokes another sensation. This technique helps me to relax my mind and to generate more idea. Thus, it helps me to become more creative. Here are some of my experiments with synesthesia.

I listened to a sad piano song, and some colors appeared in my mind. Therefore I expressed them on paper. I used blue and violet to express my feeling that song brought to me. It was sad made me feel a bit moody.

This is my expression when I listened to a funky song. It was fun with lots of beats.

When I look at this picture, I have a flashback of where I stayed before. I was living in US and this landscape picture makes me miss US very much.

In this picture I feel happy and peaceful, because the green pleases my eyes. It brings me hope and happiness.

The colors of white and blue brings me a feeling of loneliness. It feels cold and sad.

The amber color of the leaves in autumn makes me feel calm, but there is a bit of sadness in it.

This is my felling expressed in colors when i watched a video clip of cityscape. It makes me feel cold and isolated by the fast changing life in the city.

Week 6: Forced Connection

Forced connection is a creativity skill or an ability to combine multiple objects together. Forced connection can be seen in our daily life. These combined objects make our life more convenient and refreshing.

1.       Printer +scanner + photocopy + fax: this convenient printer helps me to save a lot of space in my room instead of buying individual one. I can also get my paper work done faster.

2.       Fork+ spook+ knife: This cutlery is a great deal for a lunch packed or a picnic.

3.       Perfume + dumbbell: This Davidoff perfume attracts people by the interesting design. It shows the power of man by the shape of the dumbbell. Thus it is unique.

4.       Jeans+ ipad cover:  This ipad cover is made for those who love jeans. It is a fashionable item.

5.       Pencil + watercolor: It would be too heavy to bring two separate sets of water color and color pencils, therefore I prefer to use these watercolor pencils.

6.       Map + UV lights+ dots: Artists also used forced connection to convey their ideas and to mamake their works more interesting.

7.       Skeleton + high heel: The forced connection in this fashion item is made for those who would like to express themselves in fashion.
