3. A man died and went to heaven. There was thousand of naked people around the age of 21. He looked around to see if there were people he knew. Immediately, he spotted Adam and Eva. It is because they were not born from mother, so they do not have navels.

Week 4: Mind map

Mind map is a diagram, in which the central idea is placed at the center, and branched out other connected ideas. Each connected idea continues to branch out small related ideas. Mind map can be a rough note drawn during lecture. Images can be added, if there is time. Mind map is a helpful tool in many areas, such as business, fashion, architecture. In my experience, I usually do mind-mapping to organize my thoughts and ideas for certain things such as writing essay, giving presentation, solving problems. Whenever I have a passage to memorize or analyze for English subject, I often make a mind map of that passage. Indeed, it helps me to understand the passage easier. Next, mind map also helps me to review things faster. Finally, it helps me to memorize faster and easier, since the main ideas and details are written down in simple phrases.

Week 3: Brainstorming

Brain storming is a process of thinking to solve a problem, in which a group or a person generates as many ideas as possible without discarding any of them. Next, a selection of best ideas should be carried out to examine its usefulness. People are recommended to open their minds and let the thoughts and ideas flow freely. This process of thinking helps people to think more creatively rather than constraining themselves to certain extent. The invisible barriers in mind indeed reduce our creativity. In my experience, when I have a project to complete I brainstorm by drawing many different things to see what works best for my project. After trying out different objects in different materials, I select the best idea which I think is amazing.  It is more helpful than staying at one place and thinking what might work best without actual test. In conclusion, I do believe that everyone should try to brainstorm their ideas when they have too many ideas or nothing for a problem. Let the creativity flow freely, a suppression will only result in a stagnant mind.

Week 2: What are the rules can be broken?

1. David (1501-1504), Michelangelo

2. Feast in the House of Levi (1573), Veronese

3. The Kiss (1907-08), Constantin Brancusi

4.Autumn rhythm no.50 (1950), Jackson Pollock

5. The Sunrise (1872), Claude Monet

6. The Fountain (1917), Marcel Duchamp

7. The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (1991), Damien Hirst

The contemporary art today is a result attributed by many of the prominent rule breakers. These people have been endlessly redefining the definition of art. I would like to zoom into the fine art discipline to name out some of the rule-breaking artists with their contribution. Michelangelo who was one of the most influential artists broke the rules of nature and established his aesthetic taste of an ideal beauty. This ideology of beauty had become a measure ruler for many artists in the Baroque and Rocco eras such as Pontormo, Caravaggio. Veronese was brought to court with his painting “Last Supper” which was later changed to “Feast in the House of Levi” for his imagination of painting Christ with buffalo and drunkards. Brancusi and Jackson Pollock broke the whole set of ideally realistic beauty and established his new style which is called abstract. Claude Monet challenged the art critics with his visible brushwork of an impressionist. On the other hand, Marcel Duchamp and Damien Hirst broadened the definition of arts. They challenged the critics to what extent it is considered as art with the use of their materials. After all, we should appreciate these brilliant rule breakers for making the art to evolve and shaping our presence
